Come on Big John Daly

Hi Guys,

Well the first round of the Shell Houston Open got underway yesterday and if you have been following the blog you will know a few days ago I wrote a post about John Daly talking about his current form.

Well yesterday was a pretty middling round for Big John as he had 3 bogeys and 2 Birdies to leave himself in the middle of the pack at one over (+1) par

Just looking at the stats from yesterdays round shows that Big John Daly is still booming his drives out there a long way with a 315 yard average but the driving accuracy is not there at the moment with a pretty woeful percentage of 43%

Anyhow, I still think John can turn this around and if he can post a two or three under round today then that should see him make his 3rd cut this season and then hopefully he can build on it from there.

In terms of the other players in the mix with the leaderboard having a mountain of players within four strokes of the top at this early stage. Defending champion Stuart Appleby has made a fine start and sits with a share of the lead at six under (-6) par.

Enjoy the the next three days and good luck to all the players.

One top 25 and that's not his guitar solo

Hi Guys,

This week sees the PGA tour move to the Shell Houston Open where it will be party time for many golf revellers and here is one golf writer who is hoping that we might see the atmosphere at the Houston Open spark up a revival in everyones favourite Big John Daly.

Daly has only played 7 events this season and has only made two cuts of which one ended in a top 25 finish.

Even so, there is no better sight than seeing John Daly unleash those exorcet missiles he calls drives.

We can all learn something from Daly even though his results are not what both he and us would want them to be.

Daly has a coil in his upper body which to most people would be difficult to master, especially for a big guy like John. But it his flexibility that allows him to get into this very powerful position.

I will be watching closely this weekend and hope that one of the real true characters of golf can give us something to shout about, i am sure the fans in Houston will be cheering whatever the result.
