US Open Golf........ Here we go

So today see's the start of what I believe will be one of the best US Opens in many years for all of us nutty golfers.

Tiger is back after a couple of months out and I am sure their would be no more popular winner on Sunday (Fathers Day) to pick up the prize. In our hearts we would all love to see that happen.

However, I feel that again Phil Mickelson will emerge victorious on Sunday. Mickelson has not really set the world alight in the build up to this tournament but I think he has just been working away quietly, honing his game for this week and we will see a real strong showing from him.

I was looking at the betting for the event and one of the outsiders who may be worth an interest would be Henrik Stenson at 140/1. Stenson has played well this year and could make the frame.

Another interesting bet would be on a Hole in One (Ace) occuring during the tournament. You can get 4/5 on this happening and this looks like a great price considering that both Nicholas Thompson and John Rollins both had aces in Tuesday's practice session both using a 7 iron to hole out at the 10th.

Another great story for Open Golf Week is the participation of 15 year old qualifier Tadd Fujikawa. If your one of our younger readers, or older readers come to that, it just goes to show that anything is possible if you give it a try.

Whoever emerges victorious on Sunday will definately be a worthy champion. Enjoy watching the tournament and watch out for more posts on the blog over the next few days as the story unfolds on the 2006 US Open.
