Michelle Wie makes the Cut............BIG DEAL

So at last Michelle Wie makes the cut at a mens tour event. Yes the world famous SK Telecom Open tournament where all the big players go and play.............. is it really an achievement?

Or is it just to put on a show for the media and get some more of the Wie branding out on the market, not to forget that small company NIKE.

Now before I go sounding like a moaning male chauvinist, nothing could be further from the truth.

I want to see Michelle Wie competing against the men, it brings an element of real diversity to a tournament. Some time ago I believe the great Nancy Lopez said that Wie competing against the men was an insult to the womens game.

That's WRONG. Wie comnpeting against golfers who nobody has heard very little of is an insult. Why should such a talented golfer compete against a field which I am sure her coach David Leadbetter knows will be at her level at the moment.

I read an article which David Leadbetter did for one of the golf magazines in which he was asked if he thought it was Ok for Michelle to compete against the men? and his answer was if she is good enough then why not.

"Good luck to her for playing against the men, but please Michelle? next time make it against a really strong field" then when the media sing it from the rooftops, it really will be worth shouting about.
